Lewis Brittin. During the early years of its operation, Northwest Airways (now airlines) used to focus on carrying airmails for the US Post office department. Northwest Airlines started operating passenger flights in 1927, and it was on 1928, that Northwest Airlines started operating flights in international areal routes.
